HHU StartDecision making with the help of artificial intelligence methods

Artificial Intelligence Research at HHU

HHU is committed to developing the research area of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science into a strategic profile area of the university over the next few years (KI@HHU). The first milestone in addition to existing research projects on the topic of AI is the establishment of the research group"Decision Making Using Artificial Intelligence Methods", funded by the Jürgen Manchot Foundation.

The research group consists of three Use Cases - fields of application - in which research scientists from all five faculties are involved. All projects pursue an interdisciplinary approach: In addition to the technical aspects, expertise in the field of AI methodology from the field of computer science is repeatedly included. The legal aspects are also reflected through the participation of lawyers and on a philosophical and ethical level through the involvement of philosophers.

In addition to the implementation of the three AI projects, the development of a comprehensive and cross-faculty AI strategy at the HHU is a central task of the research group.

The research group cooperates closely with the scientific unit Heine Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (HeiCAD), which was founded in 2018.
